Most riders spend their whole lives attempting to compete successfully in one equestrian sport. Marilyn Little has mastered two. Last weekend, the accomplished show jumper and event rider took home the win at The Fork CIC3*, where she and the 12-year-old Oldenburg mare RF Scandalous led the competition from beginning to end (she's pictured here riding RF Demeter earlier this year).
As the daughter of show jumping professional Lynne Little, Marilyn has been around horses her entire life. She found early success in the show jumping world when she won back to back titles at the US Junior/Amateur Championships at age 14 and 15; she's also won the US Equestrian Team’s Talent Derby three times. After graduating from Wake Forest University, Little became a full-time show jumping professional, garnering experience while representing the United States internationally and on the 2004 Olympic Trial Tour.
In 2010, however, Marilyn decided to try her hand at a new discipline, and just one year later, she became part of the US Equestrian Eventing Team’s High-Performance Squad. Today, Marilyn competes concurrently in both disciplines from her family's home base at Raylyn Farm in Frederick, Maryland, where the Littles train show jumping and eventing horses for competition and sale.
