Just a few steps from the sea, The Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show mixed glamour and top-level sport along the famous white sands of Pampelonne beach this past week. Of all the classes on the schedule, the win most coveted was undoubtedly the €300,000 Longines Grand Prix, which this year went to Christian Ahlmann and his striking grey Zangersheide stallion, Carabis Z.
In addition to the accolades and considerable prize money, however, the winning horse and rider combination also took home a one of a kind trophy: a €3,150 ( about $3,540) equestrian-themed Giovanni Raspini Champagne Bucket made exclusively for the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show.
For the past 50 years, artist Giovanni Raspini has strived to create a unique brand of luxury that comes directly from Tuscany, Italy. The metal used for the buckets is crafted in the art of fire using an ancient technique known as wax casting to create a piece of pure extravagance in white bronze or silver, often accented with intricately designed animals and other flora and fauna inspired by the natural world.
The good news? You don’t have to be Christian Ahlmann to enjoy your own bubbly out of a Giovanni Raspini work of art. For more information, visit www.giovanniraspini.com or call +39-0575-410-330.
