There’s no denying it now: the holiday season is officially upon us. With the winter show circuit approaching just as quickly, it’s a hectic time for equestrians, and there’s often little or, more realistically, no time to go shopping.
If you weren’t quite up for braving the overly aggressive crowds on Black Friday, or if you were too busy schooling horses to get to the mall, Cyber Monday offers the best solution. You can scour the Internet from the comforts of home and get all your shopping done in one day—often at unbeatable prices.
In honor of Cyber Monday, here are our top 10 buys under $100 to help guide your gift-giving this year:
SSG Digital Gloves $37.95
What’s better than buying a pair of gloves that can win you up to $3,000? As we all know, SSG offers bonuses to riders through their “Go Clean for the Green” promotion at the Winter Equestrian Festival.
Any rider that wins a round of the Ruby et Violette Challenge Cup while wearing a pair of these gloves also walks home with a $3,000 check; a $1,000 bonus is offered in both the high amateur-owner and high junior jumper classics. Now that’s a generous gift!
It goes beyond the cash incentive, though. If you’re anything like me, you go through gloves faster than you can say, “I need a new pair of gloves.” The SSG Digital gloves are great, because they are affordable, incredibly breathable, and durable—and they’re machine washable.
FITS Triple Threat Reversible Belt $99.00
Some people like shoes. I personally like belts, and the FITS Triple Threat belt is my favorite. It has an unbeatable price point for its quality (I once fell for a belt that I came to learn was nearly $600—that didn’t work out so well). It’s made of full-grain leather, and it’s reversible. Two belts for the price of one!
It’s also the perfect width for breeches, and it adds just enough color without being too bold for the hunter or equitation rings. I already own the black and clay/lead style and am looking to add the white and red/blue to my collection.
Personalized Prince of Wales Spurs with Straps $89.95
How many times have you lost your spurs in the barn, only to realize your search to find them was futile, because everyone else in the barn owned the same pair of spurs?
Signature Spurs offers personalized spurs that will not only add a stylish touch to your equipment but will also make them easy to find and impossible to steal. When you purchase a pair, they come with spur straps and are beautifully wrapped in perfect, ready-to-give satin gift bags.
Alex & Ani Horseshoe Charm Bangle $30.40 (was $38.00)
Alex & Ani might offer the best gifts out there. Each of the company’s hundreds of charms have meaning and come with inspiring messages.
The horseshoe bangle is the perfect gift for an equestrian. It’s durable, expandable to fit any-sized wrist (2.5” to 3” in diameter), and discrete enough that it will fit under your show shirt so you can wear it in the ring for some extra luck. You can also pair it with other bracelets for a stylish layered look. The bracelet comes in a shiny silver or shiny gold finish.
Lauren By Ralph Lauren Natalie Wool Scarf $49.99 (was $62.00)
I freely admit it: Ralph Lauren is my shopping weakness. Thank goodness they offer great sales!
This scarf is no exception. Reduced to less than $50, the Natalie Wool Scarf comes in blue/brown or black/purple with a classic equestrian pattern. It’s perfect to wear out with jeans or to stuff under your vest during your early morning hacks this winter.
Noel Asmar Bamboo Henley $98.00
I absolutely love the elbow patch look that has become popular recently.
Noel Asmar Equestrian offers their Bamboo Henley with this style for under $100, and my favorite part about it is that they offer such a wide range of sizes: XXS-2XL.
The shirt is ridiculously soft and can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on what you match it with. The shirt also features many details: In addition to the elbow patches, the top features a contrasting three-button placket and thumbholes with a folding cuff. An extra bonus is that it’s eco-friendly, as it’s composed of 66 percent rayon from bamboo.
Harry & Snowman DVD $29.95
You’re missing out if you have not watched the documentary Harry & Snowman. Just released on Blu-ray and DVD November 22, the film is a must-see for equestrians of all ages.
Based on the story of Harry De Leyer and his famous show jumper Snowman (and the book about them, The 80 Dollar Champion), Harry & Snowman shares the story of these American heroes of the 1950s through interviews with De Leyer himself, as well as his family members and other equestrian legends, including Rodney Jenkins, Peter Doubleday and George Morris.
This film goes beyond what you’d expect of a traditional documentary; it’s an inspiring story about two underdogs that bring out the best in each other in the ring. It’s also a great way to introduce young riders to one of show jumping’s most legendary pairs.
30 oz Customized Yeti Tumbler $49.99
Even if you don’t believe in Big Foot or yetis, you will believe in YETI products.
This 30 oz. tumbler will keep your drink cool in your tack trunk or while sitting on top of a fence post at the ring while you’re showing. I promise you that your ice won’t melt; it works just as well keeping your coffee (or if you’re like me, your tea) hot in the morning.
The tumbler is made of stainless steel and features double-wall vacuum insulation and a “No Sweat” design. It will also fit in your cup holder. Best of all, you can have fun with it and customize it with your monogram—or even your barn’s logo.
CWD Maintenance Kit 70 €
My saddle is my prized possession. Therefore, the CWD Maintenance Kit is one of my very favorite things.
Containing CWD Saddle Soap, CWD Conditioner, and a buffing mitt, the adorable container features the CWD logo and iconic red color. It also has a hook, so you can hang it anywhere that you clean your tack without having to bend down every time you reapply cleaner (especially helpful for a rider with mild scoliosis). It is my saddle-cleaning essential!
Mophie Juice Pack Air $59.95
It’s the tech gift every equestrian will want. With horses to sell, countless clients with whom to communicate, lessons to schedule, horse show entries to coordinate, and photos to take of horse show winnings, equestrians probably consume more phone battery life than people on Wall Street.
Mophie’s Juice Pack Air battery case for iPhone 6/6s (cases for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are coming soon, and there’s also a case for Galaxy phones) attaches easily to the back of your phone and can add more than 100 percent extra charge to your battery life.
It still provides full protection for your phone without being too bulky and is available in nine different colors. It will keep you going and in the loop all day!
